Try Grandma's salad dressing recipe. After the war, fresh dairy was hard to come by, so Oma used condensed milk. The results may surprise you, since it's so simple yet so tasty.

Salad dressing recipe makes enough for 4-6 servings, about 1/2 cup sauce.

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Cook Time: 0 minute

Ingredients:

  • 1 small can of evaporated milk (5 oz)
  • 2 T. sugar or equivalent sweetener
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. fresh ground pepper
  • 2 T. white balsamic vinegar or white wine vinegar
  • 1-2 T. minced onion (optional)

Preparation:

Pour the evaporated milk into a bowl, add sugar, salt and pepper and stir until sugar dissolves. Stir in vinegar and onions, if using. Toss with lettuce salad to serve.
