Bread, the Staff of (German) Life

Bread occupies, without a doubt, the largest place in German cuisine and the Germans have become master bread-bakers. Breakfast and dinner usually feature bread and butter, with various cold-cuts, ham, cheese and other toppings. “Butterbrot” also goes to school and to work with the Germans, to still their hunger in-between meals.
