This recipe goes together quickly, but is very tasty, despite that.

Makes 2 dozen.

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Cook Time: 5 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 c sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 c cream
  • 3 c flour
  • Powdered sugar for dusting
  • Oil for deep frying

Preparation:

Start heating at least 3 inches of oil in a pan or deep fat fryer. Allow another 3 inches headroom in fryer for foaming and the dough curls. You will want your thermometer to read 365°F when you are frying.

Mix eggs, sugar and salt until foamy. Mix in cream, then add flour, a cup at a time. The dough should come together and form a ball. Add flour, if too soft.

Flour your workspace and roll out the dough 1/4 inch thick. Using a knife, cut 1/2 inch by 4 inch rectangles. Twist each rectangle 2 or more times on its end to form a spiral.

Fry in hot oil (365°F) for 5 minutes. Drain on paper towels and dust with powdered sugar.
